What different fitment factors would mean (Level 1, basic Rs. 18,000)

Fitment factorNew basicNew Level 1 minimum, approx.
1.92Rs. 34,560about Rs. 34,600
2.28Rs. 41,040about Rs. 41,000
2.57 (7th CPC factor)Rs. 46,260about Rs. 46,300
2.86Rs. 51,480about Rs. 51,500

Remember that on implementation DA merges into basic and restarts from zero, and HRA rates step down to 24/16/8% until DA crosses 25%. So the jump in gross salary is smaller than the jump in basic. The calculator above accounts for both.

How the 8th CPC will affect NPS, UPS and pension

  • NPS and UPS contributions are a percentage of Basic + DA, so a higher basic means a higher monthly PRAN credit immediately.
  • UPS assured payout is 50% of the last 12 months’ basic, so the pay revision raises it directly.
  • For OPS pensioners, pension and family pension are revised by the Commission’s pension recommendations.
